Ann Carpenter

Ann M. Carpenter, age 77, of Galesburg passed away on Saturday morning, February 3, 2018 at Borgess Gardens in Kalamazoo. She was born on September 24, 1940 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Bernard and Ruth (Westnedge) Vaughan. Ann was a 1958 graduate of St. Augustine High School in Kalamazoo. In 1962, she earned her B.S. degree in teaching from Western Michigan University. On July 7, 1962, Ann was united in marriage to Kenneth N. Carpenter. She worked as a substitute teacher for Galesburg-Augusta Schools. Ann was an active member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Augusta. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends, especially her ten grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Ken Carpenter; three children: Timothy (Julie) Carpenter of Galesburg, Julie (Erik) Cabble of Dexter and Daniel (Michele) Carpenter of St. Joseph; ten grandchildren: Joshua, Matthew, Alex, Bennett, Bethany, Blake, Megan, Allison, Eva and Mason; and brother: James (Susan) Vaughan of Franklin, VA. Friends may visit with Ann's family from 5-8 PM on Thursday, Feb. 8, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, Feb. 9, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 E. D Avenue, Augusta. A luncheon will follow the service at church. Following the luncheon, interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Friends of the Galesburg Public Library, Galesburg Historical Museum, or Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo.
