Anita Kominek

Age 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Anita was born in Chicago, IL, on October 22, 1939, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Jasurda) Mars. On September 5, 1959, she married Leo A. Kominek, who survives her, for a loving 59 years together. Although she held several different jobs over the years, including being a realtor for a short time, her focus was always on being a loving wife and mother. She had many interests including home shopping networks, and they will surely feel her absence. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Steve (Sandra) Kominek of Kalamazoo, Laura (Alan) Valence of Lawton, Mary (Chris) Starr of Boise, ID, Leo (Christine) Kominek of Kalamazoo; 9 grandchildren; sister, Connie (Ron) Feliszak of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, January 26 at 11 a.m., at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Street, Portage, with Father Basker Lopez, presiding. The family will greet friends on Friday, January 25, from 6-8 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. immediately preceding the funeral mass at the church.
