Angelos passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born on February 25, 1949 in Kato Chora, Nafpaktos, Greece a son of George and Maria Petropoulos. Angelos moved to the United States at a very young age. He lived in Chicago, Illinois for many years and eventually moved to Portage, Michigan to start his career as a restaurant owner with his family. His restaurants that he owned and operated with partner Sam Tsiumas include Olympia and Callahan's restaurant. He operated these restaurants for more than 30 years. Angelos was a prideful man and always wanted to please. He had a great heart and was very much loved by many people. He was a devoted father and grandfather always being there when needed. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will surely be missed. Angelos was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. He is survived by two sons, George Petropoulos and Dimitrios (Jennifer) Petropoulos all of Portage; three grandchildren, Ari, Angelo and Emmalia Petropoulos; former wife, Amaila Petropoulos of Battle Creek; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held Saturday, August 31st at 1 p.m. at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 507 S. Westnedge Avenue, Kalamazoo MI 49007 and a graveside service will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Kalamazoo. Fr. Theoharis and Fr. Moutafis will officiate. A reception will be held at Cafe Meli, 5200 Portage Road, Portage MI 49002. Memorials may be directed to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
