Alvalone Dawson

Alvalone Dawson, age 80, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at Ascension All Saints. Alvalone was born in Bells, TN, May 21, 1936, daughter of the late Thomas and Florence (Nee: Winston) Payne.

On November 9, 1952 she was united in marriage to Joseph N. Dawson who preceded her in death, May 19, 1976. Alvalone was a longtime faithful member of Greater St. Luke’s Baptist Church where she was a member of the Pastor’s Aide and usher board and also helped in the kitchen for many years. Above all, Alvalone devoted and cherished time spent caring for her family.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Lenora Lambright of Toledo, OH, Jessie (Henry) Riddle, Austin Dawson, all of Racine, Timothy (Arvia) Churchwell of AZ; son-in-law, Charles Scales of MS; host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brother, Ben (Ora) Payne of Bells, TN; host of other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her six children, Calvin Payne, Jerry Dawson, Joann Scales, Jeisey Dawson, Nathaniel Dawson, Gregory Dawson; 4 grandchildren; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will held Tuesday, April 11, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Greater St. Luke’s Baptist Church, 1326 State Street with Rev. Joseph Pipes officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
