Alice Louise Torkilsen, age 91, passed away Wednesday May 18, 2016. Alice was born in Racine on October 10, 1924, daughter of the late Leonard and Elizabeth (nee: Wasiewska) Celmerowski and was a lifelong resident.

On August 10, 1944, in Martinez, CA, Alice was united in marriage to the love of her life, John W. Torkilsen II. They shared forty-six beautiful years together before John preceded her in death on February 5, 1991. She was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church, formerly St. Rose and the Red Hat Society. Always with a vivacious upbeat personality, Alice will be remembered for her love of dancing, her great sense of humor, and her great love for her family.

She will be dearly missed by her children, John (Kathy) Torkilsen III, Jacqueline (Tony) Fabiano, Jeff (Diane) Torkilsen, Jay (Cheryl) Torkilsen, Joel Torkilsen; 10 grandchildren, Hollie (Brian) Nelson, Aimee Dennis, Elizabeth (Brian) Wolf, Troy (Melissa) Fabiano, DeAnna Fabiano, Lee Fabiano, Nickolaus Torkilsen, Daniel Torkilsen, Rachel Torkilsen, and Ryan Torkilsen; 10 great grandchildren, Stefano, Marco and Nico Fabiano, Evan and Marin Holle, Jillian Dennis, Mason, Allison and Carson Wolf, and Landon Torkilsen; brother-in-law, Eli (Marge) Torkilsen; sister-in-law, Casey Vallone; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was also preceded in death by her grandson, Eric Fabiano; brothers, Joe (Rose) Celmerowski, John (Jenny) Celmer, Stan (Pat) Celmer, Henry (Martha) Celmer; sisters, Mary (Ralph) Braun, Stella (Al) Heck, Sophie (Elmer) Allen, Helen (Frank) Hurbis; and brother-in-law, Steve Vallone.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave, on Monday May 23, 2016, 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ronald Gramza officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials to St. Richard Catholic Church have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Diana Turner, the staff on 4th fl and Wheaton Franciscan Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
