Life Story / Obituary
Passed away peacefully September 13, 2016, at Laurels of Galesburg with her family by her side. Alice was born February 14, 1937, in Augusta, the daughter of Ernest Dowling and Margurite (Machin) Dowling. She was a lifelong resident of Galesburg, and attended Galesburg Schools. She retired from American Greetings formally known as Beach Products. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Nana. On August 21, 1964 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, William Coleman who preceded her in death on December 20, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her 4 sisters and 3 brothers; Minnie, Guyetta, Betty, Edna, Donald, John, and George and Grandson Kolt. She is survived by her 4 sons; Bill (Lisa) Coleman, Kevin (Terri) Coleman, Bob (Trenda) Coleman, Pat (Jonquil) Coleman, 18 Grandchildren; Heather (John), Morgan (Justin), Dylan (Jessica), Briana, Kendric, Taylor, Arianna, Hayden, Gavien, Kaelah, Hunter, Keegan, Kennedy, Karsyn, Landyn, Addyson, Kamryn, Lillaina, 8 Great-grandchildren; Gavin, Alana, Braelyn, Brynlee, Mason, Easton, Liam, Baby JR, Many Nieces and Nephews, her Best Friend Linda Girard Youmans, and her adopted daughter Shelley Newburry. Thank you to all of the wonderful staff who became her extended family at Laurels of Galesburg; Patty, Tammy, Christopher, and Dayton. Services will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Monday September 19, 2016 at 2:30pm. There will be a luncheon afterwards at the Augusta Chapter VFW.
