Alice Jane Sokol, age 93, passed away at her residence on Sunday April 19, 2015. Alice Jane was born in Racine on March 14, 1922, daughter of the late John and Jeanette (nee: Shebel) Sokol and was a lifelong resident.

Alice Jane was an educator with the Racine Unified School district for forty two years before retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, the Racine Educational-Retired teachers, Wisconsin Educational Association, Northern Wisconsin Retired Persons and the Gem Stone of Three Lakes. She loved spending time with her mother at her cabin in Eagle River on Finger Lake in the outdoors, fishing, picking berries and tending to her elaborate flower garden. Along with her many other interests, Alice Jane was a true Packers and brewers fan. She will be dearly missed by the many friends she acquired through the years from her many different interests and vibrant personality.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Ave, on Saturday April 25, 2015, 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Allen J. Bratkowski officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee. Memorials to the Sokol Family Fund c/o Racine Community Foundation have been suggested.

We want to thank in great measure AJay’s special friends, Joe and Virginia Evreniadis and Terry Gilboy for their constant care and service for so many years, which allowed AJay to remain in her home until the time of her death.
