Alice Gerda Renneberg Nielsen Newman passed away at the age of 92 in Scottsdale, AZ. Alice or Nana as many knew her, resided in Portage, Michigan for 32 years and then spent summers in South Haven, Michigan and winters in Scottsdale with her husband of 61 years, Thomas Newman. Alice was born in Askeby Denmark in 1925. Alice received her nursing degree in Odense Denmark. Post WWII Alice travelled as a nurse to Norway, Brazil and then the USA where she met her future husband, Thomas Newman. Tom and Alice wed in 1957 and soon became parents to Elizabeth, Marti and Karen. Alice loved sports, especially hockey and tennis. Alice also loved flowers, Lake Michigan and most of all her family. Alice was preceded in death by 12 sisters and brothers. Alice is survived by her husband Thomas Newman, daughter and partner Elizabeth Garrett and Paul DeGaetano, daughter and son-in-law Marti Newman and Chris Pagano and daughter Karen Downs as well as grandchildren Sena Jeruzal (Andrew Jeruzal), Isabelle and Jack Pagano, Ashleigh and Kolten Downs and great grandchildren Annaliesa and Austin Jeruzal. A private family memorial was held in Fanefjord, Denmark in July.
