Alfred Vincent Brokus, age 93, of Allegan, MI passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his home. Born April 8, 1924 in Allegan, he was the son of the late Joseph and Kazimiera (Gaulkants) Brokus and was the husband of the late Norma J. (Minkler) Brokus. Mr. Brokus was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he served as an usher and was a member of the choir. He was the oldest member of the Allegan Eagles Club. Mr. Brokus worked for Rockwell International for thirty-five years prior to retirement in 1981. Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time playing blooper ball, hunting, spearing, and fishing. He was also a major league bowler and an avid golfer. Friends will fondly remember Mr. Brokus as the unofficial "Mayor of Miner Lake". Mr. Brokus is survived by his children, Donna (Bill) Henderson, Mary Jane (Terry) Clawson, Joseph (Rinda) Brokus, Melvin (Chrissy) Brokus and Kathie Brokus (Chris Cole); sister, Josephine (Bob) Wait; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Audrey, Nancy, Shirley and Augusta; and his very special friend, Esther Wheatly. In addition to his parents and his wife of sixty-one years, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Edward and Stanley; sister, Bernice; granddaughter, Gabby Covell; and great-grandson, Levi Fountain. The family wishes to acknowledge the special friendship they have with the Mancuso family. Over one hundred years ago the two families met as they set their roots across the street from one another. The bond that developed between the families has continued generation after generation and will continue to be cherished for years to come. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM.
