Shirley Hazel Barrone, 85, of Bourbonnais passed away at Miller HealthCare Center in Kankakee. She was born March 17, 1929 in Kankakee the daughter of Charles and Lucille (Spence) LaBarge. After her father’s death, Lucy married Theodore Book, (who adopted Shirley) and after Theodore’s death, Lucy married Charles McDowell. On December 18, 1948 Shirley married Richard Wallace Barrone in Bradley.

Mrs. Barrone was employed by the David Bradley/ Roper Manufacturing in the outdoor products division for 34 yrs as a clerical supervisor. She enjoyed garage sales, visiting friends and loved dogs.

Shirley is survived by her husband of Bourbonnais, children: Richard (Debi) Barrone of Bourbonnais and Jane (Greg) Rude of Lakeland, FL; 4 grandchildren: Brandy (Dustin) Polly of Lakeland, FL; Nicole (Jason) Montgomery of Washington, IL; Natalie (Craig) Schaefer of Lisbon, WI and Jessica (John) Kirk of Virginia; 8 great grandchildren; sister: Mary Jo (Clement) Schmitter of Kankakee; sister in law: Lanette Stevenson of Bourbonnais; special friends: Donna Dionne of Bradley, Evelyn Bottari of Bradley, Wanda Smith of Bradley and Stella Stevenson of Bradley.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Alice (Lester) Kerouac, Daisy Logan and Delilah (Fred) Stevenson.

A time for family and friends to gather will be held at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home, Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 3:00pm-7:00pm and the funeral service will be also at the Bourbonnais Chapel, Friday, May 23, 2014 at 11:00 am. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Pastor Mary Brady will officiate. Burial will take place immediately after the funeral at the Kankakee Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kankakee.
