Joseph Chaplinski

Joseph L. Chaplinski, 83, of Bradley, passed away Friday, May 09, 2014 at Riverside Medical Center.

He was born April 3, 1931 in Bradley, the son of Joseph and Melrose Tatro Chaplinski. On July 22, 1950 he married the former Patricia McQueary in Chicago, IL. Mr. Chaplinski worked at Shapiro Developmental Center as an engineer for 30 years and retired in 1999. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed camping and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Jack Chaplinski and (Vickie Spear) of Mesa, AZ, Leonard (Vicki) Chaplinski and James (Darla) Chaplinski of Bradley, John (Connie) Chaplinski of Manteno, and Carlotta (Dave) Buza and Judith (Faustino) Avila of Limestone. He had 21 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He has a brother, Roger (Barb) Chaplinski of Bradley and sisters Marie Ellison of Bradley, Pat (Bill) Magruder of Kankakee, and Connie and (Tom) Naylor of California.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, three great grandchildren, Tyler, Madison and Jacob and two sisters, Vivian Powers and Margaret Ann Chaplinski.

A time for family and friends to gather will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Schreffler Lifestory Funeral Homes, Bourbonnais Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Kankakee.
