Norma Young

Norma Young, age 85, of Decatur, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 in University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. She received an Associates degree in Nursing from Southwestern Michigan College, a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University and a Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Andrews University. She was employed as a nurse and administrator for Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for over 35 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Irv Young; daughter, Belinda Phillips Bombrys and a brother, John Black. Survivors include two daughters, Elaine (Douglas Chambers) Phillips of Mattawan, Cathy (Dennis) Anderson of Brighton, MI; three grandchildren, Shana Bombrys, Nathan Bombrys, Andrea Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Jamieson Ranyamatsane, Max Cardowney, and Maia Bombrys. Cremation has taken place. Friends may call Sunday, April 27, 5-8 PM in the Newell Funeral Home, Decatur. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday in St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Paw Paw, of which she was a member, with The Very Rev. Rebecca Crise officiating. Interment in Hamilton Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials may be made to Belinda S. Phillips Endowed Scholarship Fund or St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
