Donald "Cary" Bautel

Donald “Cary” Bautel, 64, of Alpena, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 in St. Petersburg, FL.

Cary was born April 16, 1950 in Lansing, MI to the late Donald and Barbara (Cary) Bautel and had been a resident of the Alpena area since 1974. A graduate of Dewitt High School in 1967, he then attended Central Michigan University where he received his undergraduate degree in 1971. In 1974 he received his Education Specialist Degree from Michigan State University. Cary married Donna Brenske on May 29, 1971 in Saginaw, MI. He worked as a school psychologist for the AMA-ESD retiring in 2005 after 31 years of service. He was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, who truly loved spending time in God’s great outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hiking, kayaking and traveling. Cary was a devoted and avid supporter of his alumni, MSU and was a true Spartan fan.

Surviving are his wife of almost 43 years, Donna, two daughters; Breanne (Lenny) Spano-Bautel of Tuckahoe, NY., Kristin Bautel of Montclair, NJ., six brothers; R. Wayne Bautel of Snowshoe, WV., Dale (Jeannie) Bautel of Palm Harbor, FL., Brent (Pat) Bautel of Crystal Beach, FL., Kim Bautel of Mars Hills, NC., Craig Bautel, Mark Bautel both of Navarre, FL., his mother-in-law, Ione Brenske of Saginaw, MI., a brother-in-law, Jeff (Rosi) Brenske of Saginaw, MI., and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, including his relatives from Australia.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, April 25, 2014 at McWilliams Funeral Home – Alpena from 1:00-3:00 pm and also on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church from 10:00 am until the time of the memorial mass at 11:00 am with Rev. Richard Schaeffer officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Huron Humane Society, The Iron Lung (2IronLungs.com) or the charity of your choice.
