Louis Philip Hradek, 92, of Manteno, formerly of Maywood, passed away Sunday (April 13, 2014) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

He was born June 23, 1921, in Chicago, the son of Louis Frank and Anna (Puschman) Hradek.

Louis retired from Blum’s Vogue in Chicago after 30 years of service as a furrier. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945, earning the Good Conduct Ribbon and the European African Middle Easter Theater Ribbon.

Mr. Hradek was a past grand master of the Masonic Lodge in Riverside, active in the VFW in Berwyn, and enjoyed gardening. He also loved volunteering at the Manteno Veteran’s Home in Manteno, where he resided.

Surviving are his children, Randall (Karen) Hradek of Geneva, and Debroah (Gregory) Brown, of Jackson, Ga.; brother, Wesley (Lillian) Hradek, of El Paso, Texas; grandchildren, Matthew (Heather) Hradek and Marissa (ted) Argus; and nephews, Mark and Dominic Hradek.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. The Rev. Scott Henley will officiate. Schreffler Life Story Funeral Homes, Kankakee Chaoekm is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
