ANDRUS (ROBINSON), SHIRLEY JUNE Shirley June (Robinson) Andrus passed away peacefully to be with her Lord this April 11, 2014, a resident of Porter Hills Village Greenhouse, a long time resident of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Shirley was born January 18, 1924, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Una and Berton Robinson. She graduated from Hartford High School and Western Michigan University College of Occupational Therapy with a B.S. Degree. Employed at University of Iowa Psychiatric Hospital and Mary Free Bed Hospital, Grand Rapids, she also worked for Michigan Crippled Children and Easter Seals Society. Shirley was a proud member of Chancel Choir at Eastminster Presbyterian and, with her servant's heart, volunteered extensively for Blodgett Hospital Ladies Guild and Kent Community Stroke Club. A woman of faith and the heart of her family, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Andrus. She is survived by her sister, Margorie Bernardin, of Mokena, Illinois; children, David (Loie) Andrus, Rockford, Barry (Karen) Andrus, Ada, Kimberly (Doug) Brehmer, Otsego, Timothy (Laurie) Andrus, Otsego, and Sarah (Greg) Smith, Middleville. Shirley has 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family is deeply grateful for the loving care shown their mother by the staff at Porter Hills Greenhouse and Emmanuel Hospice. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11:00 am at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, on Monday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm and at the church Tuesday from 10 to 11 am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Hospice.
