Evelyn DeLuca, age 92, of Kankakee, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. She previously resided at the Bickford Home of Bourbonnais. Evelyn was born on February 24, 1922 to James and Rubye (Gillespie) Downs in Cambria, IL. She married Joseph DeLuca on June 9, 1946 at St. Patrick’s Church in Kankakee. Joe died in 1972. She retired from Lecours Women’s Clothing Store in 1988 after 12 years. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and Prayer Shawl Ministries. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts and was an avid Cubs fan.

Evelyn is survived by one son, Michael (Donna) DeLuca of Charleston, IL; two daughters, Mary (Ron) Clow of Gibson City, IL and Nancy (Randy) Monroe of Appleton, WI; 7 grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 25 years, Joseph; one daughter, Pamela Gard and one brother, James Downs, Jr.

A gathering time for friends and family will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home’s Kankakee Chapel. Evelyn’s funeral service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Kankakee. Burial will immediately follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Kankakee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church or Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
