Life Story / Obituary
Clare Allen "Pete" Culver, age 74, went to be with his heavenly father on March 31, 2014, at Simarron-Lakeshore Assisted Living in Grand Haven.
He was born to J. Guy and Grace Culver on October 12, 1939, in Holland. He attended Holland Public Schools.
Pete worked in die casting at various companies in Holland before retiring from Perrigo. During his retirement, he did re-deliveries for the Holland Sentinel, a job he loved always meeting new people.
He loved people and never met a person who wouldn’t instantly become his friend. He had a heart for the less fortunate and always took time to help others. In his younger days, Pete and his brother, Louie, were always up for racing cars down 8th Street. He spent many years enjoying his grandchildren, whom he loved so much and was so proud of all of them. In his later years, Pete could often be found sitting by a beach, learning about Michigan lighthouses, or enjoying rides on his electric cart in the great outdoors. He loved collecting old cameras and Hot Wheels cars.
Loved ones who preceded him in death were his parents, J. Guy and Grace Culver; brothers, Ted Snyder, Donald Culver, Lawrence Culver; nephews, Gary, Barry and Jeff Culver, Dave and Ron Snyder.
He is survived his children, Dan (Erin) Culver, Debra Culver-Long, Michael Culver, Sharon (Todd) McLean, Rodney (Liz) Culver; grandchildren, Curtis Armstrong, Samantha Long, Ryan Culver, Stephanie (Travis) Stevens, Steven Culver, Brenden Long, Sydney McLean, Seth Culver, Madison McLean, Chad McLean, Tyler Gross, Landon and Olivia Culver; brother, Louis (Gloria) Culver; many nieces and nephews; ex-wife and good friend, Betty Daniels.
Cremation has taken place with visitation on Tuesday, April 15, 6-9 p.m. at Dykstra Funeral Homes, Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Ave. Pete will be laid to rest near other family members gone before him at a private graveside service on Wednesday, April 16, at Pilgrim Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions can be made to The Holland Rescue Mission, or American Diabetes Association. Please leave a memory or message for the family at www.dykstrafunerualhome.com.
