Carmela Aiello, age 86, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saint Medical Center. Carmela was born in Naples, Italy, May 25, 1927, daughter of the late Luigi and Maria (Nee: Camera) Bianco.

On February 17, 1946 she was united in marriage in Naples, Italy to Justino "Justy" S. Aiello who preceded her in death, March 14, 1956. Carmela met Justy, who was stationed during World War II in Naples, serving as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. Following their wedding, she arrived in New York City on a military vessel with other "war brides" to begin her new life in the United States. She then joined her husband and his family to make Racine her new home.

For ten years, prior to her husband's passing; Carmela enjoyed keeping a beautiful home, being a loving wife, and raising their two daughters. After her husband's death, Carmela provided for her family by entering the work force. She was employed by Oster Manufacturing and then by Dumore Corporation, retiring in 1992. During her retirement, she enjoyed cooking her favorite Italian dishes and tending to her garden. She will be deeply missed and live forever in our hearts.

She was a loving mother to her daughters, Pamela (Scott) Goodsell, Gloria Aiello; beloved "Nonna" to her two granddaughters, Dana Goodsell, Regan Goodsell; she is also survived by her sister, Geppina (Mario) Ricchio; brother-in-law, Enzo Ricchio; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ernesto; and sisters, Amalia and Nunzia.

Private family service held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Highway 32. Memorials to Wheaton Franciscan Hospice have been suggested.
