Life Story / Obituary

Adrian R. Vincent of Douglas, Michigan, 65, passed away unexpectedly on September 12, 2013 due to complications from injuries he incurred two days earlier while riding his bike in Douglas, Michigan. Adrian was the son of the late Adrian D. Vincent and Dorothy A. Vincent of Stephenson, Michigan. He was known to many as very generous and kind, was loved by seven brothers and sisters: Diane Vincent (Spring, TX); Brian & Elaine Vincent (Castle Rock, CO); Brenda St. Germain (Tomball, TX); Debra & Scott Tessmer (Larkspur, CO); Michael Vincent (Stephenson, MI); Mary Beth Vincent (Spring, TX); and James and Kimberly Vincent (Spring, TX) and many nieces, nephews and hundreds of friends.

Adrian leaves behind his life partner, Thomas G. Staniszewski of Plymouth, MI who shared in his passion for the outdoors. Adrian (aka “Uncle Butch”) loved life. He was a successful attorney who never backed down and gave it his all. Always willing to give you advice about life: “education is something no one can ever take away from you”; what is considered quality wine; how to sneak sweets out of the pantry without anyone knowing; and most famously known for stealing the remote to change the channel at the most inopportune time always with a grin and giggle to go with it. An avid reader and a loyal Michigan Wolverine alumnus, Adrian will be missed at the “The Big House”, on the roads he cycled, the slopes he skied in Colorado, the coral reefs while scuba diving in Cozumel, under the sail on Lake Michigan, as well as by the friends and family he loved dearly.

Adrian practiced law in Chicago and East Lansing, was a long time resident of the Saugatuck/Douglas area, and supported many local organizations. He was a volunteer for the Saugatuck/Douglas Historical society and participated in numerous fundraising and political events.

Two viewings for Adrian will be held at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Saugatuck Chapel, 520 Lake Street, on Friday, September 20th from 2pm-4pm, and 6pm-8pm. A Celebration of his Life will be held at the All Saints Episcopal Church on Saturday September 21st at 11am. Everyone is invited to gather at Adrian’s house immediately following the service for one last cookout in his honor.
