OBITUARY:

Mr. Henry "Hank" Abson, age 85, a former resident of Big Pine Island Lake, Belding, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2006, at the home of his son, Jimmie in Walkerville. He was a graduate of Belding High School. When the call of his country was heard during WWII, AR3C Henry Abson answered. Self was forgotten for a greater cause, and as a brave young man he served in the Blimp Squadron in the US Navy. For many years he worked as a pressman at the Lyon Trim Plant for Chrysler Corp. He was a man who loved to fish, hunt, camp and shop. Mr. Abson was a man who cared about others, helping out family and friends. Given a deck of cards, he would indulge in a healthy game of pinnacle, penny anney poker, or cribbage. Mr. Abson is survived by his sons and their wives, Michael and Marian Abson of Belding, Jimmie and Cheryl Abson of Walkerville, and Donald and Karen Abson of Seney; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Antcliff of Belding; a brother, George Abson and his wife, Myrna, of Hersey; many nieces and nephews. His wife, the former Margaret "Mickey" Aikey, his brothers, L.S. Abson, his sisters, Mrs. Edith Cooley and her husband, Howard, and his baby sister, Doris Abson, and brother-in-law, Richard Antcliff preceded Mr. Abson in death. The service for Mr. Abson will be Friday morning at 10:30 at the funeral home with The Rev. Earnest Cummings, officiating. The Kent County Veteran's Honor Guard will offer military honors. Interment in Bostwick Lake Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the Abson family from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford
