Nikki Ann Afendulis, age 47, passed away peacefully Friday, February 22, 2013 after a courageous 2-year battle with brain cancer. She was born on November 16, 1965 to Constantine "Deno" & Phyllis (Gianopoulos) Afendulis. She was a graduate of Mona Shores High School, Muskegon Community College and the School of Business at Michigan State University, following in her father's footsteps. Nikki was a people person. She was always able to strike up a conversation with anyone. While she had many hobbies, such as exercising, tennis, traveling and shopping (especially at the Coach Store), she loved no more than spending time with her family and friends. A very kind soul, Nikki was an extremely beautiful, loving and generous person. She touched many lives in her positions at Cannon-Muskegon, Herman Miller and the Grand Valley State University College of Education. Nikki was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Grand Rapids, Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Muskegon and the American Association of University Women. Nikki's family is grateful for the loving care she received from Kathy Wilks and the loving, caring staff at Heartwood Lodge, as well as the Johnson Family Cancer Center. The family takes deep comfort in the love and support from these extra special care givers, you know who you are.
