I met Hattie when we were in our teenage years via my Aunt, Cara Lewis and cousin Karyn. We would walk Shirley Avenue in Prospect laughing and talking about boys (!) and other things. I pray the fond memories and photos will bring ease to her family. May the Creator be pleased with Hattie's life.

I met Hattie at West Junior High, and reconnected with her when she returned to Ypsilanti.
I have fond memories of meeting her at The Bird of Paradise for
jazz, and when I moved to Atlanta, Hattie drove down to visit, even though her sight had
been compromised by her illness. She never once complained. Her giggle, and her easy-going spirit will always remain in my heart. My condolences to the family. Linda Easley-Jones

I met Hattie in a club I had joined over 15 years ago, there were several men in the club, but only 3 women, and we all became very good friends. The club's name was S.I.G. which meant Social Investment Group. The three women involved were Hattie, Shirley, and myself Judy,Hattie was our bean counter, we weren't to crazy about letting or wanting other women to join because we were having to much fun with the men in the club. The club ended up breaking apart after about 5 years or more, but Hattie and my friendship continued. Hattie was very good with Graphic Arts, she made my inviations for my 50th birthday pary for me, and she also attended the affair as well. Just last summer she had an all girls picnic at her condo, we had a ball, she will be truly missed. I'm glad I was a part of her life.

I married into Hattie's family but have never felt like an outsider. In fact, Hattie was constantly making herself available to me and my children. We all love her. She insisted on taking my son Tony roller-skating and he enjoyed every moment of it. Just last year, she traveled to Louisville to take my daughter Lauren to her first ballet. And I will forever be grateful for her trips to my home in Lansing just to "hang out" and "help out" with the kids - helping to take care of baby Brookie. And I could not begin to count all of the fun conversations we shared about baking, cooking, books we read, and the list goes on. We will miss you but we will never forget you.

Aunt Hattie is my great aunt, with Melvin being my grandfather. Everytime I would visit Aunt Hattie and Betty they would have so much fun giving me grief, because I always had trouble remembering their names. But no matter how many times I forgot her name I could never forget how much she loved me and how she could make me smile.
I love you Aunt Hattie.

Hattie was a wonderful colleague at the University Library where we worked together for many years. We are saddened to learn of her passing and I extend deepest sympathy to her family. I regret I will be away and unable to attend the services this weekend, but will be there in spirit. Bill Gosling
