Nell Dempsey

OBITUARY:

DEMPSEY, NELL Nell Dempsey, aged 83, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 18, 2012 surrounded by her family and loving staff at Oakcrest Manor in Jenison. She was born on August 10, 1929, in Byron Center to Neil and Minnie Dykstra. Nell was preceded in death by her husband Thomas, her brothers, James and Louis Dykstra, and grandson Ian Olsen. She is survived by her daughters, Marcia Olsen, Kristin (Lynne) Hunter, and Janice (Gary) Lubbers; 15 grandchildren; siblings, Ann (Rex) Clawson, Jeanette Voss, John (Marilyn) Dykstra; sister-in-law, Jane Dykstra. She is also survived by her brothers and sister-in-law, Ray (Eileen) Dempsey, Pat (Ron) Carmichael, Sandy Halm, and Judie (Martin) Nortier. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 am at 1st Protestant Reformed Church with Rev. James Slopsema officiating. Friends may meet with the family at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 am. Memorial contributions may be given to Adams Christian School where Nell worked many years in the Mother's Club, or Crash's Landing, a pet rescue and placement center where she was able to volunteer her time until recently. Many will recall Nell's lovely flower gardens, which we know were only a small foretaste of the beauty she is now experiencing in the presence of Jesus her Savior.
