LIFESTORY:

Frank E. Eland, age 88, of Sarasota, FL passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012.

Frank was a man of many interests who will be sadly missed by his wife and family. He had an avid interest in trains and railroads and was a member of several model railroad clubs in the United States and Canada. He retired from Abitibi-Price Corporation as Vice-President of Engineering, Building Product Division, in 1989 after 37 years of service. As a young man he was a King Scout of Canada, a veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy, and a mechanical engineering graduate from the University of Toronto. He was a registered professional engineer throughout his career. Frank was preceded in death by his brother Clifford in April.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean and children: Deborah and Dr. Frank Mitek of Grosse Ile, MI, Nancy and Herman Raad of Holland, MI, Margaret and Tom O’Dea of Rochester Hills, MI, Leslie Eland-Mahoney and her husband Thomas Mahoney of Midlothian, Virginia; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie and Ronald Howchin of Toronto, Canada; brother-in-law, Jack and Gayle Moxam of Surrey, British Columbia; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Northwood Chapel – Dykstra Funeral Homes, 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland. Reverend Dennis Remenschneider will be officiating. According to Frank’s wishes cremation has taken place.
