LIFESTORY:

Steve Pendley, age 75, died from Alzheimer's Disease and congestive heart failure at Appledorn Living Center, Holland, Michigan on July 19, 2012.

The best gifts in life to Steve were his beloved wife and best friend of 53 years, Janet; his devoted daughter Laura Anne and granddaughter Emily Elisabeth.

Steve was born May 20, 1937 in Hamilton, Alabama. However, he was raised and attended school in Buchanan, Michigan. He was an outstanding high school athlete; probably best remembered as quarterback and captain of the 1955-56 football team and captain of the basketball team. He also played quarter back on the football team at Michigan State University his freshman year. A neck injury prevented him from further playing.

Steve graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. degree in Marketing.

His entire career was spent as an Advertising and/or Marketing Director for several electronic companies in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. He retired from Siemens Corp. in 1994 and worked an additional six years as Marketing Director of Springs Valley Bank in Jasper, Indiana.

Steve was an avid sportsman, enjoyed collecting guns and his favorite past time was shooting skeet and sporting clays. His most memorable hunting experience took place in S. Dakota where he went pheasant hunting on two separate occasions.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Edward Pendley; mother, Cleo Pendley, brother Harold Pendley and in laws John and HilmaEnder. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Janet, daughter Laura Anne, (Dr. Leon )Avellana-Champer and granddaughter Emily Elisabeth Avellana and grand dog Kipper. He also leaves the many friends and colleagues he made over the past 75 years, as he was definitely a ‘people person’.

Steve felt: ‘you know you’re lucky when your wish list in life is short, when joy

comes sweet and easy, when there’s nothing you want because you already have the best gifts ever - - Janet, Laura and Emily.’ (authorKeelyChace)
