OBITUARY:

Richard B. Brown, age 80, of Augusta, went home to be with his Lord, Monday June 25, 2012, in the arms of his wife and son at his home. Richard was born November 17, 1931 in Tell City, Indiana to Harmon and Edith (Holcomb) Brown and came to Battle Creek at age 13. Richard graduated from the Battle Creek Academy in 1949 and attended Andrews University then went on to serve in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Richard later received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University. Richard was employed as a supervisor for the Kellogg Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1985.

Richard was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club, and the American Legion Post #298. He was an avid football fan and bowled in many leagues, he also enjoyed traveling and golf. Richard is survived by his wife, the former Kay Crane, a daughter, Jody (Arthur) Harrison of Newnan, Georgia, a son, Guy (Janet) Brown of Findlay, Ohio, a step daughter, Julie (Dan) Jerue of Coloma, MI, step sons, Steve (Marlene) Chovanec of Albuquerque, NM, and William Chovanec of Augusta, MI and six grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by a sisters, Alma Ort and Ruby DuBois, brothers, Clifford and William Brown. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Wednesday at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service 225 N. Bedford Rd. Funeral service will be held 10:00AM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or the Humane Society or the Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice.
