LIFESTORY:

Donald A. Bellaw, 96, of Traverse City, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Grand Traverse Pavilions.

He was born in Traverse City on Aug. 1, 1915, the son of William and Iva (Hoxie) Bellaw. Donald lived in the Long Lake area for over 70 years.

Along with his father, Donald owned The Little Tavern and then the Bellaw Long Lake Inn. He also was in sales with Grand Traverse Overall Supply for 25 years.

Donald was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Elks Lodge and a life member of the Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling.

Donald is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Robert) Valleau, of Indian River, Suzi (Denny) Reamer, of Traverse City, and Barbara (Mike) Webster, of Tustin; daughter-in-law, Iris Bellaw, of Newberry; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of over 60 years, Dorothy Bellaw; and son, Donald W. Bellaw.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. James Hayden serving as celebrant. The family will greet friends starting at 10 a.m.
