Walter "Wally" Blanksma

BLANKSMA, WALTER (WALLY) Walter (Wally) Blanksma, age 64, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012. He is survived by his wife Susan, and loving daughter Carey (Mike) Rampanelli, siblings: Henry Blanksma, Sue (Dave) Krebs and Emery (Sharon) Blanksma. Also survived by his mother-in-law Nancy Freyermuth and brother-in-law Tom (Peg) Freyermuth. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Blanksma and sisters-in-law Thelma Blanksma and Angie Blanksma. Wally leaves many fond memories with his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Good friends and 'buddies' Terry (Diane) Weeks, Mike (Betsy) Wilson, his GM friends and golfing friends. Wally graduated from Ottawa Hills High School and served in the Navy. Wally was an electrician for Jack Gelders Electric and General Motors. He enjoyed his home projects and always had an idea. Wally was a founding member of the Grand River Woodturners Guild, although he didn't produce many pieces - he loved talking about woodturning. Visitation, at the church, will be Friday, June 1, 6:00 pm to 8 pm and one hour prior to the service. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, June 2 at 11:00 am, with a time for fellowship following.
