Dale D. King, age 88, of Jenison, formerly of Kalamazoo, went home to be with his Lord, Monday, April 9, 2012. Dale will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Wilma King (DeLoof); his daughter, Deborah (Terrance) Merriman; his grandchildren, Scott T. (Elizabeth) Merriman, Kimberly (Craig) O'Rourke; his great grandchildren, Cadence and Elijah O'Rourke. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. Dale taught at Western Michigan University for 28 years, where he also earned his Master's Degree. While at Western, he earned a Teachers Excellence Award. He loved golf and enjoyed many other hobbies, such as painting, reading, photography and going for walks. Most of all, Dale loved his family. In retirement, Dale and Wilma wintered in Florida and were members of Pasadena Community Church in St. Petersburg. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Cook Funeral Home in Jenison, 1889 Baldwin St. Memorial services will be held 11 AM Thursday at Georgetown United Methodist Church, 2766 Baldwin St. Rev. William Bills will be officiating. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In honor of Dale, contributions may be made to Georgetown United Methodist Church or a charity of one's choice.
