Steven Miller

LIFESTORY:

Steven R. Miller, 65, of Holland, Mich., died Friday Morning, March 9, 2012, with his wife of 43 years by his side after a long journey with cancer. Born February 12, 1947, in Indiana and raised in Ohio, Steve graduated Adrian College in Michigan, where he met his wife, Viv. Steve spent his life in service to youth, teaching middle school students at Watervliet Schools and coaching basketball, volleyball and baseball. After retiring from teaching, Steve went on to serve as the pitching coach at Hope College and began his real estate career with Greenridge Realty in Holland, where the couple enjoyed attending sporting events and visiting with friends and First Reformed Church of Holland family. Because of his Faith, he served as an Elder and was a big supporter of the church’s youth programs. Steve was an avid Ohio State University fan. Steve is survived by his wife Viv, daughter Stephanie (Paul) Zafarana, son Andrew, grandsons Gavin and Liam Zafarana and granddaughter Sophie Miller. He also is survived by his brothers David and Daniel, sisters Susan (Terry) Warner, Patty (Fain) Lowe and Barb (Tim) Kelley, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family is thankful for the care Steve received from Dr. Thomas Gribbin and his staff and Hospice of Holland.

A memorial service will be held Monday, 11:00AM at First Reformed Church, 630 State St.with Rev.s Dan Gillett and Dick Doeden officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery.

Friends may greet the family Sunday 2:00PM – 5:00 PM at the Northwood Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes, 295 Douglas Ave., Holland.
