Roe Abshire Sr.

ABSHIRE - Roe James Abshire, Sr., 93, of Brownsville, Texas formerly of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011. Roe was born January 1, 1918 in Kalamazoo, MI to James A. Abshire and Olive (Harris) Abshire. Roe was preceded in death by his wife, Lauretta; parents; brother, John (Marilyn); and sisters, Aileen Miller, Nellie (Gerald) Kaiser and Dorothy (Robert) May. Roe is survived by his children, Roe James Abshire, Jr. (Sandra), Pamela Kay DeRuntz and Barry Lee Abshire (Sally); grandchildren, Theodore Abshire, Amber Abshire Francis (Ben), Michael DeRuntz, Brian Abshire and Lee (Megan) Abshire; five great grandchildren. Also surviving Roe are sister-in-law, Cecilia Halverson; brothers-in-law; Richard Halverson and Stan Miller; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 11, 2011, 3 p.m., at Graceland Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 4341 Cascade Road S.E., Grand Rapids, Michigan 49546.
