DYKSTRA - George "Dyke" B. Dykstra, age 69, of Jenison, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, while walking on the beach. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Sena Dykstra; and his brother, Jack Dykstra. George was a former employee of Dura Plating and retired from Autocast. He was a partner with his brother, Mitch in Dykstra Bros. Snowplowing for merely 50 years. George was a person with a quick wit and a sense of humor. He cherished his family and had a special bond with his grandchildren. Above all, he served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He volunteered his time and talents at Degage Ministries and in many capacities at his church. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, of 40 years, Judy (Kniff); children, Brent and Connie Dykstra, Dan and Christine Dykstra, and Christy Dykstra; a special "Papa" to Bryce, Carter, Cameron, Averie, Braedyn, and Elise Dykstra; brothers and sisters, Mitch and Joyce Dykstra, Dorothy and Jim Ferguson, Sally and John Hoekstra, Mary and Bob Huizen, Candy Dykstra; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom and Barb Kniff, Marcia and John Reynolds. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:00 a.m. at Cottonwood Church, 1101 Cypress, Jenison with Rev. Matthew Palsrok officiating. Interment Rosedale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jenison Christian School or Mel Trotter Ministries. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive.
