I met Lucille through my sister Phyllis Dykhuizen, a
daughter-in-law of Lu's. We visited the family in
Muskegon at Lu and Walter's and we were always
made to feel welcome. She was a kind, gracious
and charming lady

I remember Grandma at my sister Marta's wedding, only about six years ago. She made the trip out to Madison, WI and thoroughly enjoyed herself. At the reception, all of her children and grandchildren were dancing on the dance floor, and she wanted to be moved close to the floor so she could watch. She seemed very happy and content, watching this entire family she had created having a great time. It struck me that that's what life is all about, right there, that moment of realizing all the life and happiness you'd brought about, and I was happy to see Grandma experience that.

One thing we had in common with Lucille was sharing grandchildren. Lucille too was blessed with being a grand parent to Matt and Joanna and I am sure, like us, enjoyed seeing them grow into responsible adults. We often were guests in her home and until Lucille`s health failed were made to feel welcomed. One thing we had in common was an ancesteral connection to the Walvoord family in Holland, Nebraska were her father was born.
