KENNEDY, Thomas H., III died at his home on March 10, 2010. He was born to Thomas and Eunice (Miller) Kennedy in Alpena on January 27, 1936. He lived in Alpena his entire life, except for the time he spent in the Army and at Bradley University studying horology. Tom was a businessman who owned and operated Kennedy Jewelers, which was established in downtown Alpena in 1880. Mr. Kennedy had been active in downtown business affairs, retiring in December, 2005. Tom was an avid hunter and a member of the Little Wolf Hunting Camp for nearly 50 years. He loved racing Catboats with the Thunder Bay Windjammers, was a member of the Alpena Yacht Club and enjoyed golfing at the Alpena Country Club.

In 1964 he married Jackie Francis at Trinity Episcopal Church where he is a member. She survives as do two sons; Allen (Amy) of Flushing, MI; Douglass of Arlington, VA; and the delight of his life, granddaughter, Sarah Kennedy. Also surviving is one sister, Jane (Tom) McGirr of West Branch, MI, his partner-in-crime, Dan (Barbara) McDougall and three brothers-in-law; Donald (Adeline) Francis, Buck (Beverly) Francis, both of Ossineke, and Jere (Jan) Francis of South Lake, TX. A sister, Margaret McDougall preceded him in death.

Family and friends will gather at Trinity Episcopal Church on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Celebration of Tom’s Life at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bruce Michaud officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or Hospice of Michigan. Please visit Tom’s personal web page at www.lifestorynet.com where you may share a memory with his family or sign the on-line guest book. The family has chosen McWilliams Funeral Home – Alpena to assist them with the arrangements.
