Wonder what it was about the Peters boy's parents - they did something right & Rich, while a lot selfmade, was a very good example. Thanks Rich!

Thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories, and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, with which I'll never part. God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart. I Miss you.

My father came of age in a time when You really did help your neighbor
You cooked enough on Sunday for anyone who may stop by
And you did the right thing because it was the right thing.
He lived his life by the fundamentals.
The fundamentals are what he taught his children, grandchildren and this community’s children.
The fundamentals are not limited to ball practice or farming or training horses.
They are not limited to catching a fish, driving a tractor, or giving your neighbor a dollar because he needs it, they are not limited to growing a crop, or (in my dad’s words) “shooting the shit up at Bud’s with McPhee and McNally.”
Don’t get me wrong…the fundamentals did get Rich Peter’s an invitation to try out with the Detroit Tiger’s, not once, but twice …but this is not what made my Dad. What made my Dad was bigger and wider and deeper than any pitch that can be thrown.
The fundamentals are a way of life. They are how my father decided early on that he would live his life, and the most amazing thing is that he did.
And, every time a baseball is thrown,
or a farmer’s field is plowed,
Every time a blue gill is caught, a Michigan tomato is picked, an ear of sweet corn eaten, a truck or tractor is driven to town, my dad, your grandpa, brother, husband, uncle, friend and coach will be there…because he has given us all a gift of the fundamentals of life.
And in a time, when small town America is dissolving all around us, my dad has managed to keep this community pasted together.
This community.
Where, people still help each other
The Clark family still cooks for whomever may stop by
And everyone does the right thing, because, it is the right thing.

Mrs. Peters,
I just wanted you to know how much I have thought about you and Mr. Peters in this very difficult year. My dads best friend is in Heaven now... I learned what friendship is by watching this amazing group of men meet for lunch, talk on the phone and stand by each other in joyous and tough times over the last nearly 30 years. My favorite memories are of the 4th of July- and it was at the 4th this last year when I knew something was wrong-when I didn't see Mr. Peters truck loaded with lawn chairs backed up for the big parade- yelling "Hey Kimber!" my heart sank. He is like family to me. I will miss his comforting voice and warm hugs, he is such a wonderful gentle angel to have looking over us now.
Love and comfort to you, Scott and your family.

Dear Sharon, I want you to know that you and Rich's family are in my thoughts and prayers. You and your parents were always special friends back in Allegan and Rich made that friendship even more so when we got to know each other back in Schoolcraft.
It was such a pleasure to vist the farm and see how much Rich loved the place. Do you know I still have the hat he gave me and people ask what the letters stand for?
Please know that Rich is now in an even better place and not hurting any more.
Take care during these rough times and God Bless Fred

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.

Rich was always willing to help me with my horses. I will never forget his kindness always lending me things he had to help, I can think of 2 times, he really saved me.. The first time I had gotten a new mare and she was kinda of a pain and I started working her and got her sore, so Rich lent me a machine he had that I used on her back to get the soreness out, it wasn't even his horse and he stood right there with me...
The second time that same mare was bred to foal in March, and I so desperately wanted to see it happen, so he lent me his camera and tv so we cold watch from the house. And wouldn't you know the mare foal while I was dozing off so I missed it anyway...
I will miss his kindness and wisdom...

He always knew exactly what to say, weather you wanted to hear it or not. As a young boy Rich worked on the 5 Pines Farm for my dad. Dad could see in Rich that he was a young boy who took responsibility serious. Because of that Rich got to drive the tractor hauling grain insetad of Rog his brother and me. Rich was always very pleasant and kind. Life is so short and that is why a person should make the most of it while they are here and Rich did that. Like my dad in the last years of his life committed his life to Jesus Christ and I am told Rich did the same thing. So now he is in his new home with the Lord Jesus. Romans 10-9,10

Rich was one of those people that always knew you no matter where you where. I remember watching him years ago in basketball with his brother Rog and Bill Johnson going up and down the floor.. They were unstopable. He was so proud of his grandsons athletic abilibty and was so happy when he taught them how to bat and use the batting machine. Those are a few of the things I remember him for. What a legacy he leaves. Many people appreciated him for all the things he did by example. This is obvious by the 590 visits to his life story. We will all miss him. Thanks for the memories Rich.
