I just heard of Tim's passing this morning. How strange I thought of him over the week-end and wondered when he would suddenly stop by or call out of the clear blue. I was looking forward to that bike ride I didn't get last summer. I remember he always lived life "his" way and enjoyed. I have many memories and a few are of our trip to Florida. One of those is when he was changing he's shirt. The "Giant" lifted his arms and stuck both of them into the ceiling fan that was running. He wasn't hurt, but the fan was missing two blades and walls needed repair. I still wish I had a picture of the look on his face. He was my gentle giant! I loved him and I will miss him.

Wow, I just dont know where to begin! I have known Tim for a long time now, he was always like a 2nd dad to me. He would come in to the Meredith Inn, which my Dad owns, and boy if my dad (Louie) started harping on me, you bet Tim would step in and either try and make it better or sometimes just make it worse, even though he didnt realize he was making it worse, he just tried his hardest to tell us what family is about, and to stop harping on each other. Im going to miss making him all those short Bacardi and Cokes that he loved me making. And its going to be hard knowing that I am not going to see him sitting on the other side of that bar, or well, you know, standing behind the bar and getting yelled at by all of us women!!(HAHA) Tim is going to be missed, he has always had a warm heart, and you could always tell him anything and he would always listen, We all love you Tim, and we will miss you very much in the Meredith Inn. I will see you again someday, Love Lori

I have had the good fortune and pleasure of knowing and working with Tim for the past 23 years. Tim was not only a co-worker but a good friend. It is very unusual to have that type of working relationship with someone but that was the type of person Tim was.
M & S Construction is much more than a company. We are a family and we became a family because of people like Tim.
Tim reminded me alot of " Tim the Tool Man Taylor. He was either working on a project at Camp Juwana or constructing the next one in his head. He was non stop and such a perfectionist.
Tim was a Man's Man. He was envied by most men that knew him and chased by most women that knew him.
To say Tim had many friends would be an understatement, to say he had any enemies would be wrong. Except for a scuffle that happened at Louis's bar about 6 months ago, but even then he was just helping out a friend. Tim came into work that Monday morning and we were afraid to ask him but pretty sure he was not the victor, but again he was just helping out a friend.
I know that Tim really loved his work because he would come in everyday as if it was a new adventure. He would always try to out smart the competition. When he did,and that was quite often, he usually would be sitting at his desk with that chesire grin on his face and do his little victory dance. Lord I wish I had that on tape.
We now have a big void to fill. That will never happen. You only find a package like Tim once in a lifetime, and that is if you are very lucky.
We were.

Uncle Tim...
This is so hard for me to comprehend. I can't believe you aren't here with me on earth. Even though you aren't physically here, I know you are spiritually. I love you with all my heart and miss you so much! I can't wait until we meet again and spend eternity together with our entire family. You were like a second father to me and you know what its like to lose a dad. Uncle Tim I wrote this for you...
This past Christmas keeps running through my head.
You walked in and to me the first thing you said...
"You get more beautiful everytime I see you."
Then you gave me a hug and kiss like you always do.
At the time these actions seemed so simple and expected.
These were things I took for granted, I realized this as I reflected.
You don't know what you have until its gone thats so true.
And you wont take it to heart until it has happened to you.
My heart was hit head-on and flattened to the floor.
It is slowly being put together with the thought that in heaven you soar.
As I look up, I know you're looking down.
This puts a smile on my face and erases the frown.
They say time heals all wounds and I hope this is true.
But the scars on my heart wont go away until I am in heaven with you.
I love you more than you could know and miss you just as much.
You will be remembered by everyone whose lives you've touched.
All my love,
Courtney Carolyn (your baby girl)

Thanks for letting me help you build the Taj Mahal, the pole bar, the party room and cut wood every October. And a special thanks for being able to hunt with you for the last nine deer seasons. I met Tim about 12 years ago when I was waitressing at Bostwick Lake Inn. He would come in with all his friends and sit at the bar- being loud, drinking & such...I was scared to death of him & afraid to wait on those loud guys!! Then I started dating Craig & he introduced me to his brother Tim, whom he always talked about. YIKES!!! It was that guy from BLI! But as time went on I couldn't have been more wrong- he was the sweetest, most caring brother in law any one could ask for. Whenever we needed something built or done around the house he would always be there to help. He always wanted to make people happy. On of our first Christmases together-before we Craig & I got married..he wanted to buy me a present & craig told him to go to a store in Woodland Mall called "Merry Go Round"-that's where I liked to shop & they knew me there. So he did. Even though I didn't see it happen- I just picture this big guy -probably with a hunting beard in his Carharts & overalls going into this crazy store with loud music blaring & asking the manager if she knew Tammy & he needed to buy a gift. Which of course she did & picked out an outfit for him to give. It was one of my favorites. That's just the kind of awesome guy he was-always willng to do whatever to make someone happy! We all will miss you greatly, Tim, & you will always be in our hearts!

"Hi seg" and "Love you bro" was the way our conversations would start and end whenever we spoke to each other, whether it was in person or on the phone. I don't know how I am going to be able to handle this-not hearing from you every week going forward. I know right know you are looking after me and my family, I know that because that was the kind of big brother you were here on earth, always caring and sharing in all of our lives. You were always my ROCK. You gave me advice when I needed it and critisized me when I deserved it. Too many good times to mention now, but we will be sharing alot of them over years to come with our friends. That was one thing I really enjoyed through the years was that your friends became mine and mine yours. I know we had the same philosophy, you could never have too many friends. You are my best friend and the BEST big brother I could have ever hoped for.
Love you Bro,
Seg

The worst day of my life was when my Uncle Tim died.I remember my dad coming to the top of the stairs and yelling for Tammy.I will never forget the look on my dad's face that day.I remember going up to the hunting lodge he gave everything just to make us happy. At Christmas he would buy us the most expensive gifts to show us love.He had enough love to fill the World but not enough people to give it to.My dad said that when ever they got in a fight he still loved him.I am pretty sure everyone here wants him back unless they are heartless.

This is in memory of my uncle. I don't think anyone knows how much this hurts me. I try to be strong for my dad and my family but it is so hard. My uncle was such a good man, the best really. He taught me one thing that is very important, that is that your word means everything. If you said that you would be somewhere at a certain time or you were going to do something than you had better do that. I hope that I can grow and mature to be just like my uncle, he is one of my greatest role models. Well I would also like to share a memory of my uncle with all of you. This past fall I got a chance to spend a weekend with him at the hunting lodge for deer season. Everyone says that there is nothing like deer camp and after this year I could not agree more. That weekend the deer out smarted us but that was just fine with me, because I got a chance to be with my uncle. That is really the first time we had bonded just the two of us. I learned a lot that weekend, I am sure that I should not have learned some of it, but I still had a great time. I will miss you a lot uncle Tim, and you had better believe that I will never forget that many things that you have taught me. Take care of your self up there and watch over all of us, we really need you. It sucks that you had to leave so soon, but you are not forgoten, I mean just look at all the people that care about you. You were among the best in my book, that will never change.
I MISS YOU SO MUCH!!

My uncle was like a father to my family and I. He didn't see us very much but he loved us so much. I remeber one time up north at his hunting lodge I jumped over the pool table and he caught me. I got in so much trouble, but the whole time I was in trouble I still loved him with every ounce of my heart. When I heard he had died I fell into so much sadness. Many people don't know hard his death was to me and how close he was to me and my family. I love you Uncle Tim.

My best friend Zarkie,
"51" is very young to me and we don't know why or when my friend. I sure enjoyed the 20 years of friendship and the 10 years being your golf partner. I learned a lot from him from building pole barns to golf to hunting and just plan life. Zarkie and I had a great friendship because we are a lot a like in many ways, We don't take to paticular to people telling us what to do and we are both pretty stubburn, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Zarkie alway took care of business and taught me the same. I sure miss my friend, I keep thinking that he is right around the corner, but I know that he is in a better place now. I look forward too seeing you again some day my friend. Please give Big Frank a hug for me.

They say a man is lucky if he can count his friends on one hand, well friend you nor i have have enough hands to do that we are so blessed. The good times we shared are too numerous to mention, and the not so good times now seem so trivial now. Ann, Kelsey and I will always remember our time we shared at our "little piece of heaven" at Camp J. You are one of gods angels now and I know you will be looking out for all of us..your brother Craig and Tammy, your sister Connie and Burt and your neice's and nephews you cared so much for. I am sure they will miss "Uncle Tim". I know you will look out for all your friends who cared so much about you. Zarkie I gotta go now. Until we meet again . Freestyle Kyle

Zarkie, I will never be able to replace the excitement, fun and not to mention the many lessons I learned while visiting you at Camp Juwana. It was something I always looked forward to, because I knew no matter what the situation I was always protected. You'll always represent, in my heart, times when I was truly having a ball. Since I had just recently met Tim the time we spent together is so fresh in my mind. He was part of my life for such a short time but I feel that I will remember him always. Even though I had not met many of his friends and family members I remember him telling me how important they were in his life especially the special place he had in his heart for his brother and his nieces and nephews. It's just amazing to me as I read the memories submitted how fresh in my mind the conversations Tim and I had about the things he had enjoyed in his life like Camp Juwanna, golf, jazz, his motorcycle and the special friends and family he cared about. I send my deepest sympathy to those of you who lives were touched by Tim Zahrt. My thought is that, I am saddened by the unanswered question in my mind of where our friendship would of went from here. God Bless, Kelly

To my friend Tim.
Tim, you loved your family, friends and co-workers. We will miss your love and friendship.
You loved to build things, many different things. When mother had a stroke you built her handicap steps so she could get into the house. You built pole barns, renivated some homes and you built a lot of roads. Maybe God needs you help to build something.
You and our friends have done so many things through out the years. We will miss the opportunity; to have that last conversation, to have that last drink, to go on one last hunting trip or play that last round of golf.
Tim, you are a great friend and we will all miss you.

Tim we met at East Oakview and I moved and then again when you moved to Rockford we hooked up again and that is when the bond of friendship truly started. We attended Ferris together and you were always looking out for me telling me what to do and what not to do. Some people are just meant to be in our lives and you were one of those. Our friendship was one of many adventures some we looked back on and thanked God we survied. My parents were greatful that I had such great friends to watch over me while I was away for the first time. Dad wasn't so sure since my circle of friends were all guys. But we were like family to eachother. When I married you were there and when I went through a divorce you stood by me and came to see that I was going to alright. My son's looked up to you and thought you were "Hulk Hogan" we always laughed about that. I remarried and moved to Williamston and you called and told me Williamston isn't that far call me if you need me ever. Sorry to say that we only saw eachother a few times in the last 12 years. I was just talking about calling you to my husband this last week-end I should have called. Thank you for all you were to me then and will ever be in my heart. I will always love you Tim and you will forever be missed but not forgotten.

Tim is my dad's best friend, and like an uncle, or even a co-dad to me, and my sisters & brother. Over the last 10 years or so my entire family has grown to love him. Every weekend it was expected that he'd be sitting right next to my dad in Meredith at the bar getting into some kind of trouble....He was a man who I could always look up to....He worked hard, yet always made time for fun, his family, and friends. Some of the best advice i've ever gotten has come from Tim, and for that i'll always be thankful. Tim looked out for everybody. He made sure that I knew if I ever needed anything I could always come to him. Tim is his own person, and I have yet to meet anyone quite like him.
..The realness of your passing, Tim, still hasn't sunk in. I still expect to see you every time I walk through the door at the bar, but I know, eventually, with time, It'll finally become real, and i'll miss you more than you can imagine...I know you'll always be looking out for me, and everyone else who was so close to you. You'll always have a short glass, and a parking spot in Meredith...I could go on forever about you, but you've always known that talking is something I do best..Thanks for the memories.

I have unlimited memories of my "baby" brother who became my "big" brother. I felt very priviledged to meet so many of you at the Celebration of Tim's Life. Tim had his private side, but if you were fortunate for him to open up "you were special". One thing that we as a family have always done is when we see each other there is always a kiss and a hug. If over the phone it is a "I Love You" when we end the conversation.
My favorite memory happened at our Christmas gathering 1986. The family was coming to our house in Muskegon, my daughter, her husband, and new baby came from California; Grandparents; brothers Tim and Craig and families; and my son Scott. I had told Tim that I was going to make country ribs for dinner. Tim did not know what that was, but said it would be okay.
We sat at the table and food was placed. Twenty pounds of ribs was in the center of the table. All food was passed and I served the meat. Tim only took one piece (we were told as children to only take a little in case you did not like it). We all began to eat and talk. Then Tim who was at the end of the table stood straight up. He moved other dishes in front of him to the side, slid the meat in front of him and sat back down. He said "Sis, now I don't have to reach so far and I plan on taking the rest home with me". A wonderful commpliment and I made those same ribs many times for the family.
Tim's short life has been a real eye opener to our family. We all expect to live long lives but only God knows the purpose. Tim's life was full, and he did what he wanted when he wanted with no regrets. I left a message on Tim's phone that Friday and ended with I Love You. I hope he heard it. We will never know when those will be out last words. God Bless each one of Tim's friends and know that we have been blessed with just knowing Tim.
I will see you soon my brother, Love Connie

We were.
"I love you Big Guy"

Tim, my best bud - I'm sitting here wishing I was with you, but I can't be right now. I have a few more things to build down here yet so until I get the chance to be with you, Mary, Matt and Nate and I will keep you in our memories forever. Thanks, Tim for so many of them. Thanks for letting me help you build the Taj Mahal, the pole bar, the party room and cut wood every October. And a special thanks for being able to hunt with you for the last nine deer seasons. God Speed my friend. Miss and love you so much - Rick DeLong

Zarkie..Where do I start...Where do I finish...Tim the years go by so fast don't they. I hope you know this is a tough one big un'.

I met Tim 15 years ago when I started working at M & S. We have worked so long together that I considered him more like family than a co-worker. Whenever you needed a hand, he was there to help. He was someone you could definitely count on. Tim if you can hear me, thanks for being in my life and for the times that we shared. I will miss you.

And even though I may be lying to myself, I still hope I can run into you on the streets of Rockford and properly say goodbye to a good friend and even greater man. -missing ya, "Rookie"

Tim will always be remembered for all of the times he made us laugh, for being able to laugh at him, for him laughing at us and simply for laughing together. And for all the times he was there to lend a helping hand or ear. Just a nice guy, you liked call your good friend. We will all miss him so much up here in Houghton Lake. It's hard to say good-bye, but hoping someday we meet up again. . . I know he'd drink to that!!

Tim, you are a great friend and we will all miss you.
love you, hook.

Tim as everyone knows will be greatly missed but never forgotten. His wit, charm, kindness, adventurous spirit and love was known by all. we will think of Him often, every time "Big Nuts" puts his pinky in the air, when Connors & louie are arguing like they are married , when anyone wears slippers in the Meridith Inn and certainly any time a lone attractive woman passes by. We will go on But changed forever by his presence in our individual lives. Big Nuts & Becky
