It has been a pleasure to see the three sisters sitting in church together at Pilgrim United Methodist. I've enjoyed my brief conversations after services with each of these wonderful ladies we all come to know. My prayers are now with the family of Lucille and now I will continue to enjoy seeing Lil and Isabelle weekly.

Reading Aunt Lucille's Life Story brought back so many things I'd forgotten about. The references to what a hard worker she was, her ability to "make do," and her fix-it -herself attitude reminded me of ... how "cool" I thought it was when the family moved into an old schoolhouse to live ... right up until I found out how much work that was !! As a young Lansing city-slicker, though, it was still pretty special at the time. I'll always have my homemade Christmas ornaments to remember her by, too.

Grandma always seemed to be working on a blanket or other crochet project everytime we saw her. She tried to teach me once but all I made was a scarf. She pretended it was the best scarf she had ever seen.

I remember when she got her dog Sobig and her CB handle was Blue Pan Handler!! She used to come to our house and play cards with my mom and one time they let me play! I made a mess of my cards and my mom was trying to help me and Aunt Lucille won the game while we weren't looking! She's sneaky!!

I remember her fried chicken. When she lived on Gibbs street, in St Johns, MI, I would walk to her house and she would make the fried chicken. She would dip the chicken in corn meal. It was the best fried chicken ever. I have tried to do it as I remember, but it has never tasted like Aunt Lucilles. She lived with my family when I was young and then when she moved in with my mom, Lillian, we got to know each other again. She was a great lady and I will miss her very much. I know she is looking down from heaven and saying,"All is well".

When I was growing up, Grandma was always talking about the little old ladies she took care of at work. Up until she retired she was still taking care of "little old ladies" and I thought it was cool that other people have little old ladies for Grandmas, but mine takes care of little old ladies for a living. I guess 79 would have qualified her as a "little old lady" but she sure didn't seem like one, even when we visited her this summer.

I remeber as a very young age staying over night at Grandmas house in the country a number of time and listening to the CB radio and playing with her dog Sobig.
