I recall Long Lake visits with children everywhere, canoeing for perch for breakfast, wallpapering the bar that they owned on Main Street and long chats with Shirley. Her lovely daughters babysat my three sons when I had to work or needed a break. They were the only ones I trusted with my boys. Shirley's devotion to her family extended beyond her seven little ones and Tom. May God bless you all with loving memories and prayers of comfort during this time.

There was ALWAYS a cheerful smile and a sparkle to Shirley's eyes. You were welcomed into her gentle presence. She was like a mom, when I lost mine. She had a word of encouragement filled with the wisdom that grows in a big family. Quick to share a joy or a burden; life was much richer because she was here. God bless all you dear family; she was so very proud of every one of you.

Shirley was one of the nicest people I have ever known. The day we met we instantly bonded. She was like my second mom and she treated me like one of her own children. I adored her. I count myself as one of the very lucky ones to be in her circle of love. I will miss her very, very much.

I remember Shirley as one of the reasons that I enjoyed working at the FOC for nearly 20 years. She and Tom raised a beautiful family that meant everything to them. Although I hadn't seen Shirley in a long time, I will miss her.
