Shirley Blashill

LIFESTORY:

Shirley Ann Blashill 71 of Traverse City died Thursday, October 29, 2009.

Shirley was born on March 9, 1938 in Detroit the daughter of Howard and Lilah (Rooker) Stevens.

She married Thomas P. Blashill on April 27, 1957 in Detroit.

Shirley and Thomas moved to Traverse City in 1969. She was a member of the Christ of King Catholic Church for over 20 years. Shirley retired as office manager in 1997 with the Grand Traverse County Friend of the Court.

Shirley enjoyed reading, winter in Leesburg Florida, gardening, golf and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Thomas Blashill of Traverse City, children, Cathy (Tad) Cook of Traverse City, Tom (Margy) Blashill, Susan (John) DeLoache of Dallas, TX, Carol (Mike) Macia of Encinitas, CA, Mary, (Mark) Poniatoski, Chenina (Kevin) Gauthier and Trish (Jeff) Wiltse all of Traverse City, 17 grandchildren, brother, Paul Stevens of Northville and her special cat, Boots.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, twin grandsons, Justin and Joshua Cook, brothers, Lee and Gordon Stevens.

A gathering for family and friends will be held 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the Life Story Funeral Home.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Christ the King Catholic Church, Acme with a gathering at 10 am, with Rev. Gerald F. Micketti as celebrant.
