Obituary
LEWIS - Julius C. Lewis "Uncle Jute", age 86, of Brutus, walked on October 12, 2009. He was born March 11, 1923 to Joseph and Mary (Hamlin) Lewis in Burt Lake, Michigan. Julius went to school at Holy Childhood in Harbor Springs. Julius fought in World War II, was wounded five times by machine gun fire, and was a Prisoner of War. After the war he married Susan Naganashe on July 10, 1945 in Petoskey. Julius then moved from Brutus to Grand Rapids where he worked as an auto mechanic eventually moving back to Brutus six years ago. He is survived by a daughter, Karen Marie (Ron) Boda; grandsons, Jesse (Jenny) Boda, Anthony (Alisha) Boda, Ronald Boda II; five great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Julius was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Marie, son, Douglas Allen Lewis, and granddaughter, Constance Marie Boda. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 15, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Indian Rd. in Brutus at 1:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Services will be held Friday, October 16, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brutus with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. with Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements were handled by Charles G. Parks Funeral Home in Petoskey, MI.
