We were so sorry to hear about the death of your dear
dad. We were out of town, so were unable to visit at
the funeral home, but you are in our thoughts and
prayers. We had so many good times with your mom &
dad. Love to all of you, Ruth & Bob Terveen

I was a regular customer at Sy's Market and Steve (Sy's son-in-law) was a wonderful assistant to me. I recall after having had major serious surgery, I could send my teenage son with a grocery list and get everything that I needed. This was due to the tradition of his father-in-law. I also recall how Sy wanted to know the foods of my African American heritage that the store should carry to attract us; ie, chitterlings, smoked jowl, greens, neck bones, pig feet, etc. And guess what, I no longer had to travel far to get these grocery items.
I also had the opportunity to pray with Sy when he was in Kent Community Hospital.
To the family, treasure your pleasant memories of this fine man and true example of a believer and man of faith.
