The thing we remember most about Fred is his smile. He was always smiling, no matter what.. He made us very welcome when we first moved here 20 odd years ago. (We are the only folks in the neighborhood who are not legally Schelms in one way or another). He was a good friend and a great neighbor.. We will feel his loss but there is also great comfort in the fact that he is with his parents, our daughter Veronica, who is probably bossing him around, and his friend Baby.. Peace, Ann, Don, and Alexa

I was six when we moved from 86th Street near Brownsburg to Monrovia. 86th Street was such a busy road and were constantly warned not to step foot near the road. We could be run over.
I was to start the first grade and was really apprehensive about catching the bus on the first day of school. Our drive was over 1/4 mile long passing from the house through fenced fields to the road. I was obsessed with the memory that I dare not step foot into the road. I voiced my concerns and was constantly looking behind me for the truck that would run over me. My older brother and sisters chided me and told me that this was a drive and not a road and there were no trucks. Fred was the only one to see my true concern. After all he must have been all of 12 and in the sixth grade. He quietly walked over and took my hand and then we walked the rest of the way to meet the bus. Just having a hand to hold calmed me. I knew my big brother would never let a truck run over me.
It was pretty much that way the rest of our lives. He championed every sister and looked out for us. He was not just my brother, but also one of my best friends (all of my siblings are). He was a definite keeper and he will be missed more than words can describe.

I loved the times I was able to spend with Uncle Freddie. I was drawn to him because of the warmth and love that he shared with all of his family members. You knew when he loved you and when he did he loved deeply. He was always inquisitive, wanted to know what made you tick and would take great joy in making you smile. He was a wonderful example for others to want to be like. We enjoyed conversations about God and the Bible. He was quite knowledgeable and that gives me great comfort knowing that I will see him again one day in Heaven. Now he is at peace with no more illness or pain and running free. This world was a better place because of him touching so many lives and because of his love. Uncle Freddie, you will be greatly missed but will live long in our memories and I'm looking for that blessed reunion again one day. Meet you in Heaven and we'll go fishing!

Freddie was a typical big brother. He teased us, pulled pranks, told jokes. If you needed it he would give you a swift kick and then would explain how much he loved you and why you should take another direction.
A loving and loyal husband, father, brother and friend. God and family were first in his life. He loved his his work, home and nature. He called his sisters his angels because we spoiled him and he spoiled us in return. He was best of friends with his brother Herb, his brothers in law, sons in law and was a man's man.
I am a better person for having had you in my life. I will miss you. I am Blessed knowing that you are in a far better place. Rest now, watchh over us and please know that we will all do our best to be our best. I will see you again someday.
He expected the best effort from everyone, he gave the best back to everyone and every task.

Strong, vivacious, tenacious, loving, giving with such fortitude-a wonderful mixture of our Mom and Dad.
He loved his family dearly and very deeply. To me, not just a big brother, but a wonderful friend.
And though my heart aches beyond discription, I am so grateful he will no longer suffer. I love you buddy-always and forever.
