To darling, vivacious, inspiring Aunt Dee Dee of whom I have the privilege of carrying your middle name. Years passed and we lost touch since moving away to Los Angeles. I called to say "Hello" and learned you were gone. My sister Patty & I are deeply saddened yet will always remember your darling smile and the cute things you had to say to everyone. I have the fondest memories of you, Dear Uncle Richard, and all your children. I carry your name with pride, (also a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis) of which I will try to follow your example of courage and determination. Thank you for being the doll that you were and leaving us all with so many sweet memories. My love to Uncle Richard, all the children and grandchildren. God Bless to all. Love "Marti Lou" Martha Louise Ent.

John and I remember Dee Dee as our beloved neighbor on Illinois. When people say that she was a fun loving ans kind, sweet and joyful they are 100% right! We never saw her without a big smile on her face. She was a joy to know and this world is a sadder place without her. God bless her wonderful family! Love, John and Sally Mayhill

DeeDee and Marilyn and Debbi worked together at Dr. Ketner's office. Dee Dee always had a smile on her face and was always kind to everyone. Most of the time she was laughing and being silly, however, she was always very serious about her work. We both felt we already knew Dee Dee's life story by having lunch with her everyday. She loved to talk and never met a stranger. We will love and miss her.

Dee Dee and I were 1956 classmates in Dental Hygiene at IU Scool of Dentistry. Dee Dee was always a joy to be with: concerned and loving to those around her. Dee Dee was a champion for Dental Hygiene and touched so many patients with her skills in preventive dental care as well as her people skills. She loved people.

Also have memories of being in Dee Dee and Dick's wedding and have witnessed their 50 plus years love affair.Love in action was always apparent as their lives moved forward: never more so than the last few years as they have experienced health problems together. They were truly ONE (Ephesians 5:31).

My love to Dee Dee's Loved Ones

To Dick and Family, my condolences. I will always remember when my sister was tired of taking care of me Deedee would always take care of me and change my diapers. She continued to take care of me as a dental hygenist and as a loving cousin. I always loved her warm smile, she will be missed.

Dee Dee was a precious gift from God to me thoughout my life. I knew if I experienced life, loved others and believed in myself like Dee Dee encouraged me to do, I would be a blessing to others. She taught me not to let life's circumstances get me down, but to make me stronger. Dee Dee believed in all of us; she brought laughter into our lives with her stories. I learned to see good in everyone and everything. I learned through Dee Dee's example that life's challenges could not defeat me unless I let them. I love her deeply and she will continue to encourage me and be a part of my life as she always has.

With love and gratitude,

Portia

I love my MiMi and I will miss her forever. She used to take care of me when I was young and used to take me on walks everyday. She read with me a lot and I think that's where I got my passion for reading. She also used to take me to the fire station down the street and used to take me to the number 16 fire truck every time it came down the street with its sirens on. I will never forget my MiMi

Love,Kyle

I met Dee Dee at her daughter Alicia's house when she was there enjoying her grandchildren. I could tell right away what a warm and loving person she was. She greeted me with a big smile and couldn't wait to snatch up my little boy for some hugs. It was fun seeing her sit wearing her big witch's hat on Halloween with a big bowl full of candy in her lap for the kiddos. From listening to Alica's stories I know she was full of love and lived life to it's fullest. She must have been so proud to know that she raised such a warm and loving daugher in Alicia. I know she will be greatly missed. How lucky her family was to have her and to have so many wonderful memories to keep in their hearts. I wish I would have had the chance to spend more time getting to know her. I'll look forward to hearing more Mimi stories from Alicia and the kids.

Sincerely,

Stacy Gerth

To Dick and all the kids,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I always enjoyed visiting with DeeDee as a neighbor child, a babysitter, dog sitter, and as a mother, visiting with my own children. She always made me welcome in her home and told me I was beautiful. One always felt love in the Abbett household. Eventhough her days were full with a family and a career, she always had time for me and what was going on in my life. She had a great way with people and animals and a zest for life. DeeDee, we are all richer for having known you as a friend.

Fondly, Peggy Harger-Allen, Dale, Michael and Katie.

I met Dee Dee when we were in grade school number 84. We became friends from the minute we met. We both loved being outdoors. Both of us loved track, running and jumping. We spent overnights many nights at each others homes. My Mom would fix chilli on Friday night ane Dee Dee loved Mom and her chilli.

When Dee Dee and I and another dear friend, Anita Woods, graduated from grade school we rode the train to Florida and stayed with my Aunt Ruth and Uncle Clarence. They had an apartment above the garage that they let us sleep in. We felt like we were really grown up. We laughed and told stories until the middle of the night.

Some time along all of this my cousin Dick met Dee Dee and something great clicked. Well to make a long love story short, they ended up getting married. How neat is that. Now my best friend is now my relative.

I will miss my dear friend but will never forget her and her wonderful ways.

Till we meet again, I love you.

Ruth

Dearest DeeDee, You kept the class together with your smarts and your love of life. All of us loved you dearly and have kept you in our hearts and prayers. You may be physically away from us, but none of us will ever forget the influence you had on our lives--your sense of humor, your precious smile and most of all your bravery and acceptance of what God gave you. Dick-thank you for taking such good care of DeeDee! You were her shining star for much of her life. With my love and prayers, Gwen

My memories of Dee Dee Abbett is your beautiful smile and personality and friendship I knew of her when she shopped in Atlas Supermarket.

How proud she was of her children and her smile when she brought them into Atlas. I want to thank her for allowing me to work with her daughter Alicia Hunter.

It was truly wonderful knowing her and Dick and their friendliness and kindness to me.

When DeeDee and I were in preschool at Fairview Church we decided that we would ALWAYS be friends-"No matter what". Later we decided we would be cousins and we called each other cousin until last Oct.1. I will miss my cousin more than you can know. I loved her.

From the first day I met DeeDee, she welcomed me into her family with open arms. I know that mother-in-laws are always portrayed as something to be feared and/or dreaded, but DeeDee was never anything but kind and generous to me. DeeDee loved to tell stories--about when she was young, about dancing, about her days in college, and about her childhood sweetheart, Dick. But most of all she loved to talk about her kids. DeeDee loved being a mother and grandmother and it showed. DeeDee also loved to make people laugh--and that she did. Thank you, DeeDee, for all the love and laughter. We'll hold you in our hearts forever,

Janet, Ian, Nate, and Mia

Dear Alicia and family,

All is true of DeeDees vivaciousness, friendliness and love. I was lucky enough to experience it as your neighbor for several years. Meeting her in the yard to talk over the antics of our daughters, watching them parade down the street with doll buggies and dress up clothes. All good!!

I also remember my appreciation for her as a dental hygienist and the respect she had for her work and her clients. She was a true professional.

A smile still comes as I remember the stories of the belly dancing and the creativeness she used in her costumes. What a laugh; need I elaborate?

I'm sorry I fell out of touch, but I hope you know I loved and respected her and I will miss knowing she is a presence in this world. God bless!! love, carole

I met DeeDee when I was about 11. I had met and became instant friends with Alicia, and it was the same with DeeDee. She was like 2nd mother to me, and it is hard to list just one or even two memories of DeeDee because there are just so many. I will always remember the way she used to laugh and want to make you laugh. She would always welcome you into her house and make you feel like family. I will always remember DeeDee as the warm, loving, and kind person that she was, and she will always be alive in my heart.

I have so many wonderful memories of Dee-Dee... I have known Dee-Dee since I was a little girl when Alicia and I became best friends. I remember walking down to her house wondering what Dee-Dee's antics were gonna be that day. She was always singing and dancing, smiling and giggling. Dee-Dee always made me feel like part of the family. She would hug me when we were good and scold me when we were bad and always with a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face. I remember her trying to teach me how to belly dance and use the clackers. I remember her halloweens, her mice, her smiles, here giggles and her love. I wanted to thank her for everything, especially Alicia! My prayers are with her and her family! She will be missed! God Bless!
