Mr. Joseph J. Oleneack, aged 82, of Grand Rapids, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 18, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Bernadine Oleneack (nee Hankiewicz). Surviving are his children, Karen (Paul) Henneberry, Timothy (Susan) Oleneack, Thomas (Susan) Oleneack, Mark (Judy) Oleneack, Christine (Troy) Brewer; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Leonore (Robert) Settersten, Sr. Mary Magdalece S.S.N.D.; several nieces and nephews. He was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church serving as Eucharistic Minister, Usher and Lector. Joe worked for many years as a meat cutter in the Grand Rapids area retiring from Thornapple Valley Meats. A Mass of Christian Burial and Committal Service will be celebrated Friday 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He will repose in church one hour prior to Mass. Entombment Holy Cross Mausoleum. The family will receive visitors Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Arsulowicz Brothers, Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd., where a Rosary Service will be held Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions to Consolata Missions or Grand Rapids Home for Veterans will be appreciated.
