Mary Bergman

(Sparta) Mary Theresa Bergman, age 90, passed away on May 11, 2008 at Heartland Health Care. She graduated from Comstock Park High School and then worked as a maid in Chicago. She then went through nurses training and served her country as a nurse in the Women's Army Corps and was stationed in Mississippi during WWII. Following the service she did Public Health Nursing and was later employed for a number of years at St. Mary's Hospital. During her retirement she continued to be involved as a nurse and volunteered at the Sparta Senior Center. She was a member of Holy Family Parish in Sparta and was active in the Little Flower Guild and the prayer line. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clemens in 2001. She is survived by her sons, Larry Bergman, Dale and Karen Bergman; grandchildren, Holly Bergman, Angela and Jason Kantz, Sarah Bergman, Anthony Bergman; great grandchildren, Elsa and Jacob; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, May 15, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Fix and Msgr. Terrence Stewart Co-Celebrating. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may meet the family at the funeral home on Tuesday, 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mrs. Bergman will lie in state at the Church on Thursday morning one hour prior to the mass.
