Clayton "Chuck" Afton

Clayton "Chuck" Afton, aged 82, of Grandville, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2008. Clayton was the last of five brothers who were all veterans. He served his country proudly in the Coast Guard. Chuck retired from Grand Rapids Gravel Co. after 40 years and was a member of the Operator Engineers Union. In his retirement, he was a big fan of the Tigers and Tiger Woods. Chuck enjoyed fishing and boating, but especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane. Surviving are his children, Paul and Nancy Afton, Lisa and Carl Hauch; grandchildren, Penny Meyers, Mandy and Mike DeBoer, Lori and Randy Dismang, Elizabeth Afton-Hauch, Matthew Hauch and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Tabitha, Landon, Taylor; sisters-in-law, June Afton and Sharon Afton. A private graveside service will take place at Grandville Cemetery. There will be no services at the funeral home. Those who wish may make contributions to the charity of one's choice.
