Donald H. Acton, age 91, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, April 11, 2007. He was born in Lawrence, MI to Henry and Cassie Acton on August 23, 1915. He worked as a mechanic for Clemmens, Tucker Freight and Associated Truck Lines, and was well known for his skills. After retiring from the mechanic trade, he was custodian and bus driver for St. Pius X Church in Grandville. He was a member of Resurrection Life Church of Grandville. He had also been a member of the Horseless Carriage Club of Grand Rapids. He enjoyed participating in local parades with his 1926 Model T. He was a loving father and husband, and was known for his kindness and appreciation of others. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Acton (Swick), his granddaughter Nicole Kielhorn, his brother Robert Acton and his sisters Jeanette Acton and Gertrude (Clarence) Koster. Don will be lovingly remembered by his children, Kenneth Acton of Winterville, GA , Lorenz (Jill) Kielhorn of Jackson, MI, Donald (June) H. Acton Jr. of Hudsonville, MI, Cheryl Acton of Abingdon, VA, Alden (Connie) Kielhorn of Irving, TX, Lynda (Jim) DeGraaf of Jenison, MI, David (Jackie) Acton of Stillman Valley, IL; his 22 grandchildren; his 12 great- grandchildren; his siblings, Alice Acton, H. Clay (Ina) Acton, Jerry Acton, Larry (Carol) Acton, Sharon Blaskis; and sister-in-law Phyllis Acton. A special thank you to the staff at Oak Crest Manors of Jenison and Spectrum Health Hospice for their compassionate care. A time for relatives and friends to visit with Don's family will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at the Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (west building). Funeral Services will be held 12 p.m. Monday at the Cook Memorial Chapel (East building).
