Joshua Patrick Jeffreys, age 24, of Grand Rapids and Brighton. Josh passed away Tuesday morning, March 28, 2006 in Grand Rapids following injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born March 11, 1982 in Howell, the son of Joe and Lisa (Whalen) Jeffreys. Josh was a beautiful child of God who graduated from Brighton High School in 2000 and Central Michigan University in 2005. He served as a student teacher at the West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science in Grand Rapids, and at the SOS Herman Gmeiner Junior Secondary School in Ghana, Africa. He served as an adult advisor at many youth events for his church, St. George Lutheran in Brighton, Michigan, and was a member of the CMU Rugby team. He loved people, music, photography, traveling the globe, political discussions and God. Surviving are his parents, Joe and Lisa Jeffreys; brother, Jake; his dog, Karma; grandparents, Jack and Coreta Jeffreys, Jim and Vicki Whalen, Chuck Blaylock and Carol Whalen Blaylock; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 30, 2006 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and again beginning at 6:00 with a Celebration of Life Service taking place at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service Friday, March 31, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steve Higley of St. George Lutheran Church of Brighton, officiating. PLEASE NOTE - The visitation on Thursday and the funeral service on Friday will be held at the Brighton Church of the Nazarene, 7679 Brighton Road, Brighton 48116. Visitation will begin at the church on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions in Josh's name are suggested to Central Michigan University (in check memo put Josh Jeffreys - Ghana Fund). These funds to be used by the Herman Gmeiner Junior Secondary School and Orphanage in Ghana, Africa of which Josh was very involved with.
