Henry Richard Van Singel

Henry Richard Van Singel, age 88, of Saugatuck was welcomed into his Savior’s Arms on Sunday March 8, 2015 at Grace of Douglas Care Center.

Henry had a deep love for his wife Jean of 65 years, his church Community Church of Douglas, and the city of Saugatuck. Henry had the privilege of serving as Mayor of his beloved city Saugatuck, and served many years on the city council. He was also a proud member of the Butler Street Boy’s Club. Henry was a veteran of the Army Air Corp serving during WWII. He was preceded in death brother Gerald Van Singel, and baby sister Phyllis Van Singel.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Jean, sister-in-law: Lois Visser, and Marilyn Morton, brother-in-law’s Marvin and Sherlene Beute, Harvey and Sandra Beute, and Richard and Carol Beute. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 28, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Community Church of Douglas. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Daniel Miller. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Church of Douglas or City of Saugatuck (Rose Garden).
