On January 1, 1945 in New York City he was united in marriage to Marjorie J. Joseph who preceded her in death September 13, 2008. Sherman was employed by the Rock Island Arsenal for over thirty years until his retirement in 1984. Always very athletic, Sherman enjoyed swimming and loved his time golfing with the Tuesday morning Johnson retirees, golfing until this last fall. He was thankful for his friends at the Imperial apartments and Fountain Hills, his daily visits with his faithful companion, Clementine, and the Chicago Cubs and Bears. His greatest joy came from being around his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He will be dearly missed.
